The girls are coming: seminar on Basque literature, gender and youth in the University of Birmingham
Dr. Katixa Agirre, a member of the Nor Research Group, will conduct a seminar which will take place the 23rd November in the University of Birmingham.

Dr. Katixa Agirre’s lecture is entitled The Girls Are Coming. Gender, Youth and the New Basque Literature. As she explains, “this seminar will explore one of the most relevant phenomena in contemporary Basque literature: the advent, over the last decade, of a significant number of female authors to a male-dominated literary environment. Young female writers’ bittersweet encounter with readers, critics, and the media will be discussed.”

Katixa Agirre is nowadays involved in a one-yearch research stay at the University of East Anglia, thanks to a three-year research grant. She has previously spent six months at the School of Languages, Linguistics and Film, London, within the same project. She is working on how gender indentities are constructed through audiovisual products, specially focusing on a case study: Mad Men serial.

The seminar is organised by the Basque Studies branch of the Department of Hispanic Studies, University of Birmingham.
