Six institutions with powers in language, culture and cinema in the Northern Basque Country (EEP – Office Public de la Langue Basque, EKE – Institut Culturel Basque, Communauté d’Agglomération Pays Basque, Département des Pyrénées Atlantiques, Eurorégion Nouvelle Aquitaine/Navarre/Euskadi eta ALCA – Agence du Livre et du Cinéma de Nouvelle Aquitaine) have signed an agreement with the University of the Basque Country for the NOR Research Group to carry out research to study the state of cinema in this territory.
The outputs of the study will be: a diagnosis of the situation, an analysis of the cinema policies in in the Southern Basque Country, and some recommendations.
This research is the result of the will of the aforementioned organizations to agree on a long-term film policy and carry it out together.
The aforementioned institutions and the University of the Basque Country have signed, on 29 June 2022, an agreement to carry out the work. This is the first time that the University of the Basque Country and almost all of these institutions have reached an agreement.
The NOR Group will present the results of its work in the coming months.
