On 12 December some members of the NOR group presented to six public bodies in the Northern Basque Country the previously report. The Department of the Atlantic Pyrenees, the ALCA (Agence culturelle de la Région Nouvelle-Aquitaine), the Euroregion New Aquitana-Navarre-Euskadi, the Office Public de la Langue Basque, the Basque Culture Organization and the Communauté d’agglomération du Pays Basque had requested to the NOR group a diagnosis of the cinema in the territory, as well as a drafting of proposals for a common cinema policy, in the light of experiences in the territories of the South and taking into account cross-border cooperation.
The work has been carried out by five members of the NOR group (Graxi Irigarai, Ramón Zallo, Josu Martínez, Patxi Azpillaga and Josu Amezaga), who presented an extensive diagnosis together with a set of proposals. Although not involved in the commission, the Biarritz City Hall, which is an important actor in the film industry, also attended the presentation.
It is now up to the institutions to reach a consensus and develop an adecuate film policy based on the diagnoses and proposals received.
In the summer of 2023, the NOR group will publicly present the results of the work as part of a Summer Course to be held in Baiona.
